Omar M. Hassan, MD
Dr. Hassan completed his Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology in Chicago. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and internship in Internal Medicine with West Suburban Hospital. He attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine where he completed his medical degree and received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University, graduating Cum Laude.
Dr. Hassan has a particular interest in mentoring and teaching which permeates into his interactions with his patients. Throughout his academic career, he has been involved in teaching; from discussing the basics of diabetes and hypertension with patients at a free clinic in Chicago to mentoring peers as an ophthalmology resident. He has consistently maintained his post as a volunteer teacher at a weekend school for over 15 years. Now, in practice, he is involved in teaching future vitreoretinal surgeons as a part of Northwestern Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship.
